Services For Youth

Court Diversion & Intervention Services

Law enforcement, probation, court or school personnel may refer youth ages 11-18 who are in trouble with family, have run away from home or who have been arrested for violations of ordinances or criminal law.

The goal of services is to “get right” with family, school and community by learning better ways of dealing with conflict, and to make restitution for harm done.  Completing the Youth Assessment and Screening Instrument (YASI) helps identify strengths to build on and risks that need to be reduced.  All services are available in Jackson and Perry counties, and are subsidized by the Illinois Department of Human Services, so there is little or no cost to participate.

Unified Delinquency Intervention Services (UDIS) are available to seven additional Southern Illinois counties for delinquent youth referred by probation or court as an alternative to immediate commitment to the Department of Corrections.

Youth under the age of 18 who exit from Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice facilities are also eligible for services designed to help make positive reconnections with education, employment, friends and counseling resources.

How to ApplyMore information can be obtained and an assessment can be scheduled by calling SIRSS at 618-457-6703 (Jackson County) or 618-357-2513 (Perry County) and asking for Beth Morrison at extension 229 or Mike Rohling at extension 256.
