Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jackson and Perry Counties

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a nationally acclaimed program that connects caring adult volunteers to children ages 6-12 for friendship and fun.

Amachi, a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters, matches children aged 4-17 who have a parent who is incarcerated in a state or federal prison with a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Volunteering as a “Big” brother, sister or couple offers a wonderful way for adults who are at least 18 to “make a little magic” by offering their time and friendship to a child for at least one hour a week for one year.  The effect on the “Little” brother or sister is matched only by the fun experienced by the volunteer.  Careful attention is focused on matching the interests of the volunteer with those of the “Little” brother or sister, so that it’s easy to figure out what activities would be fun for all.

Big Brothers Big Sisters and Amachi serve Jackson and Perry counties and are fully accredited affiliates of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

There is no charge for children or adults to participate in this community volunteer effort.

Guidance and leadership for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program is provided by the SIRSS Youth Service Advisory Board.
