The first priority is to connect an individual to family or community food and shelter resources. Other services include assistance with: establishing legal identity by obtaining identification documents; identifying and obtaining medical and psychiatric resources; applying for public benefits; identifying and obtaining safe and affordable housing; enrolling in age-appropriate educational programs; obtaining and retaining employment; and learning basic life skills including household maintenance and money management. Priority for services is given to homeless student parents in Jackson and Perry counties and to homeless adults with mental illness in Jackson County. Homeless services are subsidized by the Illinois Department of Human Services, so there is little or no cost to participants. How to Apply – Walk-in hours are from 1 - 3 PM, Monday through Friday.
