Services For Adults Community Outreach Program
What is Project X?Project X is a statewide Illinois incentive created to provide free intervention services for Methamphetamine and other club drugs. Project X will focus on building community awareness concerning the manufacturing, sale, and use of these drugs and provide early intervention activities for those individuals who are currently using. Southern Illinois Regional Social Services, Inc has partnered with this incentive to provide these services to Jackson, Williamson, Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Perry, and Randolph counties.
Intervention services will be provided through outreach activities including presentations, trainings, information and education, visual materials, research, and collaborative efforts with local communities at no fee.
Community referrals and confidential assessments will be provided on a sliding scale fee for those in need of substance abuse treatment, upon request. How can Project X Be Useful To Me and My Organization? Our Project X Liaison is available to work with you and your organization to increase your communities’ awareness of the epidemic of methamphetamine manufacturing and use in your neighborhood. Information regarding club drugs and their increased use in the Southern Illinois area can also be provided.
The Liaison will be able to work with educators, medical personal, retailers, social service agencies, law enforcement, and other groups or organizations by intervening through increased community education. How Can I Contribute to the Success of Project X?Thank you so much for your interest in helping Project X and Meth-Endangered Children by collecting “Kid’s Care Packs”. Meth is a powerfully addictive stimulant that is becoming the #1 drug problem in rural America, and the fastest growing drug trend in the nation. Meth is not only dangerous to the user, but is also dangerous to manufacture, and toxic to the environment. In 2004, Illinois State Police disassembled 959 meth labs, which is an increase of 125%, from the 403 in the year 2000.
These meth labs are often times the homes of innocent victims, the children of our communities. When these children are removed from a meth-lab home, they not only lose their parents or caretakers, but they are unable to take anything from the home with them. This includes their favorite toys, clothing, pets, etc. Therefore, your contribution would give these children something to hold on to.
Southern Illinois Regional Social Services, Southern Illinois Healthcare and Project X are collaborating to create Kid’s Care Packs. Enclosed please find a list of appropriate items for a Project X-Kid Care Pack.
All checks should be made out to Herrin Hospital Mission and Values, please memo Kid’s Care Pack.
