Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for Youth

The first step to recovery is assessment to determine presence of a mental illness such as an attention deficit disorder, depression, a substance abuse disorder, or a co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorder. If a disorder is diagnosed, treatment is a partnership between the youth (under age 18), family and counselor that builds on strengths and addresses needs. If everyone agrees, psychiatric services at SIRSS or elsewhere in the community may be part of treatment. Youth who are at least twelve years old may consent to their own confidential substance abuse treatment.

SIRSS accepts payment from Medicaid, KidCare and some private insurers. Some families are eligible for services at discounted rates. Priority for service is given to residents of Jackson County.
